Recent floods in Pakistan have devasted the country, affecting at least 33 million people. Thousands have been left homeless and lost all of their possessions, the country's infrastructure has been crippled, and many have no access to food.
Urban Food Alliance worked with the Islamic Circle of Mercer County (ICMC) to collect food, clothes, and blankets to be shipped and distributed to the flood victims in Pakistan.
The drive took place from September 9 through 11, and volunteers worked hard to sort and pack the donations into a large shipping container, which, through generous donations from community members, was completely filled and will be shipped from the port this week.
Our hearts go out to the people in Pakistan, and we hope that these donations will provide some much-needed relief. Urban Food Alliance intends to work together with other organizations in the coming months to continue similar food and clothing drives until the situation in Pakistan improves.
If you would like to donate specifically to relief efforts in Pakistan, please give generously; every little bit counts, and together we can make a difference.
